Catching up before I fall into the third book. #fantasyseries #grimdark #goodfantasy

So, The Gate of Fang and Thorn is done. Finished. We published 7 days ago, and now it’s time to move on to the next project. Yup, Book 3 of the main series; The Gathering of the Blades.
The two Novellas we planned for the year are done. The purpose of them is to deepen the main series and expand the breadth of its scope. They are designed to be standalones, but at the same time, connect back to the main series. They bring our side stories to life, but do not necessarily hold to one fantasy genre.
is a Grimdark novel, and deals with the creation of the Gates. The Gate of Fang and Thorn is more of a Hero's Quest, and tells of Logan Fel'Mekrin's adventure in the Sur, which many of you have requested.
We also have two audiobooks in the post production stage, so look for those as well. We're expanding our offerings, and working hard to do it right. Christopher Graham III narrated The Gates of Golorath, and Samuel Williams narrated Requiem's Reach. Each actor brings the novel to life, and they have each imparted a unique voice to the characters.
I've been away from the Pride for a bit, hanging with Logan and his cohort. And yeah, I know I left them in a bit of a bind, stuck up there in Andover. To get back into the swing of things I'm writing a short story titled "Initiating Angels," which deals with how the Elc'atar initiated the Pride once they declared their intention to become Yearling. We're still in the military fantasy vein right now (in future books we will move away from this, as the story shifts more into a classical sword and sorcery), so you can bet that the initiation will be just as rough and tumble as they are.
It’s good to be back though. I'm laughing with the Pride again, and we're picking up where we left off. So, hopefully, book three won't take so long to finish up. I currently have a first draft of 122,633 words written, so we're off to a good start. Our goal is the 160,000-word range, which would put it about the same epic fantasy category as Gates and Angels. Trying real hard to get that out before the year is done.
So, there you have it.
It's been a busy year so far, but things are moving along nicely. Thanks for joining us on the ride.
